Andhra Pradesh SI Mains 2026 Exam Overview
Andhra Pradesh SI Mains 2026 is part of the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Andhra Pradesh selection for the post of Sub Inspector of Police. The written test is demanding because it tests arithmetic, reasoning and general awareness together, at speed, against the clock.
SLPRB, AP issued the 2026 notification (Rc.No.81/SLPRB/Rect.1/2026) on 16-09-2026 for 378 posts: 253 SI (Civil), 116 RSI (AR) and 9 SI (SPF). Vacancies are provisional, and application and Prelims dates are announced separately by press release. Check the official notification for the exact numbers and dates before applying.
Sub Inspector of Police Selection Process
The Final Written Examination is the merit-deciding stage, reached after the qualifying Preliminary Written Test and the PMT / PET. Papers I and II (languages) are qualifying; for SI (Civil) the aggregate of Papers III and IV (400 marks) determines the merit rank.
- Preliminary Written Test (Qualifying) — Two objective papers (100 marks each) that screen the applicant pool. Clear the qualifying percentage in each paper to move on.
- PMT / PET (Qualifying) — Physical Measurements Test (height, chest / weight), then the Physical Efficiency Test (1600 m run plus the 100 m run or long jump). Qualifying for Civil posts; PET marks count for AR / SPF posts.
- Final Written Examination (Merit-deciding) — The Final Written Examination. For SI (Civil), the aggregate of the objective Papers III and IV builds the merit rank.
- Verification & medical (Final steps) — Certificate verification and medical examination per the official rules, before the final list.
Andhra Pradesh SI Mains Exam Pattern
The Final Written Examination (Mains) has four papers of three hours each. Papers I and II are descriptive, qualifying language papers; for SI (Civil) the merit list is the aggregate of the objective Papers III and IV (200 + 200 = 400 marks), which this series mirrors.
| Section / Paper | Subject Areas | Questions | Marks | Duration |
|---|
| Paper I: English | Descriptive (Degree standard) — short essay, comprehension, précis, letter / report writing, translation (qualifying) | Descriptive | 100 | 3 hours |
| Paper II: Telugu / Urdu | Descriptive (Degree standard) — short essay, comprehension, précis, letter / report writing, translation (qualifying) | Descriptive | 100 | 3 hours |
| Paper III: Arithmetic & Reasoning | Arithmetic (SSC standard) and Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability — objective | 200 | 200 | 3 hours |
| Paper IV: General Studies | General Science, current events, History of India & the National Movement, Geography of India, Indian Polity & Economy — objective (Degree standard) | 200 | 200 | 3 hours |
You must score at least 40% (OC / EWS), 35% (BC) or 30% (SC / ST) in each of the four papers; fail Paper I or II and Papers III and IV are not considered. Papers III and IV are set in English, Telugu and Urdu and answered on OMR, with no negative marking prescribed. For RSI (AR) and SI (SPF), Papers III and IV count for 100 marks each and the PET adds 100 marks (300 in all).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How close is the mock series to the real Andhra Pradesh SI Mains 2026 paper?
Full-length mocks cover the official Andhra Pradesh SI Mains 2026 syllabus in English and Telugu (English-subject questions stay in English). Questions mix direct one-fact MCQs with the structured styles recent papers use — multi-statement (“consider the following statements”), assertion-reason, match-the-following and the occasional chronology or “how many” item. Scoring is +1 per correct answer with no negative marking, in line with the official notification. The difference is that it's online — so you get analytics a paper answer-sheet never could.
Is the real exam online?
No — the written tests are pen-and-paper OMR exams. We practise online so you get instant, drill-down analytics after every attempt; the subjects and scoring (no negative marking) follow the official notification.
I'm just starting out — where do I begin?
Start with a Micro Warm-Up — just twenty-odd questions on one topic. Then 50-question sectionals, mini tests and finally full-length mocks. Each stage grows with you, so you're never thrown into the deep end.
Can I practise on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The same test — live timer, question palette, mark-for-review and autosave — works on desktop, phone and tablet, so you can practise anywhere.
Is there a free test, and can I retake tests?
Five tests per exam are free after you sign in. Eligible tests can be retaken, and the analysis compares attempts so you can confirm your weak areas are improving.
