How the Constable written exam is structured
The Constable recruitment has a Preliminary (screening) written test followed, for shortlisted candidates, by a Final Written (Mains) examination — with the physical tests in between. The same broad syllabus below applies across the written stages; the Final Written tests it in greater depth.
The Constable Preliminary Written Test is a single 3-hour objective (OMR) paper of 200 questions for 200 marks, at Intermediate standard, covering English, Arithmetic, Reasoning, General Science, History, Geography, Polity, Economy and current events. It is qualifying only.
There is no negative marking in the SLPRB, Andhra Pradesh written tests (as per the 2026 SI and Constable notifications): a wrong answer simply earns zero, so never leave a question blank. Our mock tests score the same way, +1 for a correct answer and 0 otherwise.
Always confirm the exact number of stages, marks and qualifying cut-offs against the official SLPRB AP notification for your recruitment year.
English (Constable)
English is part of the Constable written tests, and its questions stay in English in every version of the paper. Expect Intermediate-level grammar, vocabulary and comprehension.

- Averages — Average of numbers, weighted average, and change of average when items are added or removed.

- History — Ancient, medieval and modern India, and especially the Indian freedom struggle.
- Geography — Physical, Indian and world geography — rivers, climate, agriculture, minerals and mapping.

Andhra Pradesh — topic-wise breakdown
The official syllabus is written at India level, but questions with an Andhra Pradesh angle turn up under history, geography, economy and current events — and most posts go to local candidates — so study the state closely.

- Andhra Pradesh history — Ancient Andhra (including the Satavahanas), medieval dynasties such as the Kakatiyas and the Qutb Shahis, and modern Andhra and its freedom fighters.
- Andhra Pradesh geography — Location and physiography, rivers (Godavari, Krishna, Penna), climate, soils, and irrigation and water resources.
- Andhra Pradesh economy — Agriculture, industries, the state budget and flagship welfare schemes.
- Andhra Pradesh society & culture — Social structure, festivals and jataras, folk arts and crafts, and Telugu language and literature.

- National current affairs — Government schemes, appointments, economy, science & technology, and important national events.
- International current affairs — Summits, organisations, agreements, and world events that affect India.
